  • Another brilliant read by @johnmarkcomer “We are always asking the question, ‘How can I get out of this?’ To be honest, we are asking the wrong question. The right query is, ‘What can I get out of this?’ Not how, but what.” #mynameishope #johnmarkcomer #mustread

  • Just a little thought to ponder this weekend, as you inevitably head into another week...if Jesus lived the life you did, what would it look like?

  • The second book of 2018. (Yes I know I’m a slow reader) Excited to connect with John Mark Comer’s wisdom again after enjoying “God has a name” and “Garden City” His style is very relatable and well grounded in biblical truth and solid theology. . #bookstagram #loveology #johnmarkcomer

  • “That’s why Sabbath is an expression of faith. Faith that there is a Creator and he’s good. We are his creation. This is his world. We live under his roof, drink his water, eat his food, breathe his oxygen. So on the Sabbath, we don’t just take a day off from work; we take a day off from toil. We give him all our fear and anxiety and stress and worry. We let go. We stop ruling and subduing, and we just be. We “remember” our place in the universe. So that we never forget . . . There is a God, and I’m not him” #johnmarkcomer

  • I tend to move 100mph in everything I do and sometimes it catches up to me. God created the whole world in 6 days and rested on the 7th. He didn’t rest because He was tired. He’s God. He rested because He wanted to reflect on the good work that He did and lead by example to all of us. • My wife and I have begun practicing the Sabbath once a week. We are constantly in conversation of discovering what we define as “work” and what we define as “rest.” It’s amazing what happens to your soul and love for your family when you turn off your phone, stop “working” and just REST. Thank you Jesus for the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thank you for EVERYTHING! Psalms 34:1

  • New episode is up on the podcast now, featuring our friend @johnmarkcomer (link in bio) . John Mark serves as pastor for teaching and vision at Bridgetown, a thriving young church right in the heart of urban Portland. He’s also the author of several books, including Loveology, Garden City, and God Has A Name. Since last year, John Mark has been leading Bridgetown Church through a series of intentional practices designed to help his community experience actual change in their lives. This is something we all want - to actually change, to actually become more like the people we think God made us to be. In American Christianity, the most common approach to this process is one of intellectual ascent. If we can know enough, learn enough, be smart enough, get inspired enough… we’ll change. Or so we think. In this conversation, we unpack this myth, get to the heart of the matter of change and explore some specific practices that will actually begin the process of change in our lives. . #ReGenerationProject #ReGenerationPodcast #SpiritualPractices #SpiritualDisciplines #PracticingTheWay #johnmarkcomer

  • Second time reading this book and I’m still wrestling with new thoughts and ideas of who God is and who God calls himself. So glad I am on the journey of getting to know God by how he describes himself, not my warped view of him. I am so thankful that all our BStud ladies agreed to mix things up and do a book study. God has a name ya’ll. • • #godhasaname #johnmarkcomer #thepursuitofgod #camp910 #livefromthevalley #photography #photography life #lifestyleblog ger #lifestylephotography #brightandairy #lifestyleblog #blogger #christianblogger #faithblog ger #faithblog #lifeblog #winter #faithblog gers #ndlegendary #northdakota blogger #northdakota #northdakota living #northdakota legendary #minotstate

  • “All too often there is a massive disconnect between ‘spiritual life’ & LIFE. The way of Jesus isn’t about detaching from the world....His way is about living a seamless, integrated life, where the polarization between the sacred & the secular is gone, & all of our life is full immersion in what Jesus called the kingdom of God. But this will never happen if we don’t recapture the theology of work & rest & the art of being human.” Thoroughly enjoying “Garden City” by John Mark Comer, while I sequester myself in my own corner at @storyville. If you’re a multi-tasking, one job isn’t enough, people loving, ministry driven, 2 classes & an internship, kind of person...OR you’re just floating along in your daily grind, or even just have a soul & spirit to take care of (a.k.a. everybody), this is the book for you! ✨ It has been changing the way I relate to rest & community with God in such a pure, deeply moving way. • • • • • • • • #storyville #coffee #seattlecoffee #bekindtoeveryone #bookworm #readingup #coffee andjesus #alwaysthesame #gardencity #johnmarkcomer #upperleftusa #northwestcreatives #northwestisbest #itsnotablog #iswear

  • Journal 03 // Rest: This year I’m focused on being more disciplined and part of that is having a Sabbath each week to refuel and rest. Discipline is a way to set borders in our lives to live healthier and more productively, but not be legalistic. It’s hard to be disciplined but it always pays off! — While a Sabbath doesn’t have to be on a Sunday, that’s what works best for my current schedule. It’s meant to be a day of refueling and rest and spending time with God. For me it looks like unplugging, going to church, spending time with friends, reading a good book, getting in God’s word longer and dwelling in his presence with prayer and worship. Your sabbath may look differently, but ultimately it should be a day to refuel with God not binge on Netflix. I recently listened to @anniefdowns podcast called “That sounds fun” where she and @johnmarkcomer talked about Sabbath and it opened my eyes to the need for a true sabbath each week. I hope that you’ll take a listen and think about what your Sabbath could be. — So today I’ll be unplugging and leaving you with this older, but relevant blog post on “Humble over Hustle.” (Link in bio) What does your Sabbath look like? Do you have one currently? Why or why not? Comment below! Shabbat Shalom!
